WWF-Australia has partnered with Cool Australia to create a range of classroom-ready lessons and resources to teach students about why and how to protect marine turtles – one of Australia’s most-loved species.

Marine turtles have called the world’s oceans their home for more than 100 million years, and play an integral roles in the entire marine ecosystem. Sadly, these magnificent creatures are now listed as either endangered or vulnerable because of increasing pressures and threats primarily from human activity.

An integral part of these lessons is to engage students, connect them to the wider marine environment and inspire them to protect these iconic species with a focus on practical ways to preserve nesting beaches. Teachers from years 4 - 6 can use these lessons to help students understand the importance of turtles, the threats they face and how we can help protect them.

Teachers can access the lessons for FREE and download digital worksheets and a host of other resources that will inspire and engage learning in the classroom.
