This week I attended an important workshop in Broome to address a hot topic - the stark fire reality of the Dampier Peninsula, Western Australia.

This peninsula is one of the most fire prone areas on Earth. Every year huge swathes of woodland are  devastated by catastrophic wildfire .

WWF-Australia is working with a range of stakeholders, including Indigenous rangers, to protect significant populations of threatened species at risk of extreme fire conditions in these areas. These fire regimes will help protect the iconic bilby as well as the colourful Gouldian finch.
